Find Yoga Studios in Minneapolis | Here’s One! @laurelvanmatre

Do you know how/where to find Yoga Studios in the Minneapolis area?

There are probably 100s or maybe 1,000s of yoga studios in the Twin Cities. Which one fits you?

I just connected with a new friend on Facebook. Her name is Laurel Van Matre and she is owner of a yoga studio in Northeast Minneapolis called the Yoga Garden.

WEBhttp://www.yogagardenmpls.com/

Finding the “right” yoga studio for you is much more than just location. Seriously, if you are too lazy to walk or drive a few extra miles to a studio with teachers that fit your energy and vibe, then you might consider joining a few of them to build up your energy. LOL

Joking aside, finding the yoga teacher and the studio that is a fit for you is important. Think about it… if you are not really into the place and the face you should visit daily, will you actually go?

Also, you might someday choose to attend a Yoga Retreat in some exotic place like Costa Rica or Tulum Mexico and if you are not resonating with the people you are there with, you better be prepared for a long maybe miserable experience.

On the other hand, if these people and the style is a fit for you and it resonates well with you and your spirit you will more than likely have a very enlightening and enjoyable experience.

A Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) is a stroke of LUCK!

What is a Transient Ischemic Attack and is it really serious?

I had a “stroke” Transient Ischemic Attack of LUCK!

It was a Monday when I resigned as President of MediaMAX Events and Expos and sold my interest in the business.

Those of you from here in the Twin Cities, may recall, when I had my Exposition Management business, working with Rick “The Expo Guy” Martinek. We were producing 11-12 expositions a year. The Home Improvement and Design Expo, The Marketing Expo, the Event Planners Expo, and “ironically” the Health Life Expo and the Longevity Expo.

Rick is still at it, but it literally, almost KILLED ME.

I remember when I made the decision to resign back in 2012.

It was a difficult decision to make, because we were making very good money in the business, but we were also working long days and weekends to do it.

We were both stressed and working hard. I remember coming home from a networking event, and walking downstairs in our home in Golden Valley with a hand full of business cards. I walked over to the back window to look out and stare at nature and wildlife in our backyard and relax.

THEN I had a REALLY strange feeling! I had dropped the cards, and they were all sprawled out on the floor. BUT I did not recall dropping them. It was very WIERD!

I HAD A STROKE!! (or TIA)

When I had the TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) or “Mini-Stroke”, it was a wake up call, that I was working too hard and too stressed out from the long hours.

It was a Monday that I said to Rick, “I’m resigning and quitting this business. I’m not going to die in this office, Rick.” At first he was SHOCKED, but he understood. He had some health issues also.

It was a MONDAY, when I resigned and started learning how to earn money online via the internet.

On a happier note, I’m ALIVE and feel GREAT!

Enjoy your day, be well and take care of yourself, exercise, eat well and take some vacation time to relax.

Be well,

Denise Austin shares Basic Fitness Methods for High Energy and Well Being

In this VIDEO, Denise Austin shares about health, nutrition, wellness and yoga.

Denise Austin is a fitness icon. I remember back in the days when I was involved with The Peoples Network,  A motivational and inspirational television program on the PrimeStar network,  Denise was one of the members on the faculty.

Although having a personal coach live and in person is the optimal way to better health and wellness, sometimes watching a video and having someone like Denise Austin guide you through various moves and techniques can be helpful.

Yes you have access to a professional fitness expert in your place of residence, you definitely want to look into that option. For some people, they prefer to exercise in the comfort of their own home rather than going to a gym or fitness center.

As we move closer to the coaster Rica event center project and building the facility and surrounding cabins, I am always looking for wellness professionals that want to participate in our collaborative vision.

In addition to physical exercise, it is also important to work on your mental state, and exercise your mind or your brain. This can be done through meditation and affirmations.

Although having a daily meditation routine, seems like a simple process, it is amazingly difficult to do in our busy western hustle lifestyle.

Learning to discipline your mind to create daily habits and routines around building up your mind body and spirit and creating a harmonic balance is vital to success and well being.

For me personally, one of the best ways I can condition myself into a routine, is by connecting it with some other habit that I do daily, such as taking a shower, or brushing my teeth.

How are you going to balance your mind body and spirit?   Tell us more in the comments below.

Yoga Poses and Studio Ownership: The 3-Step Foundation

So… you are considering opening a Yoga Studio…

Yoga poses and Studio Ownership require two very different skill sets. However keeping harmony and balance in either or both is key.

LOCATION

Where do you want your studio?

You might think that a busy retail space is ideal. This may help with drive by traffic, but do you actually NEED drive by and walk by traffic? A busy traffic location will COST MORE. Another thought you might consider is an IDEAL area with a “ready to tap” community of like-minded people. These days with Social Media Advertising, it is much eaisier to find other Yoga and Fitness Enthusients.

Minneapolis has a lot of unique unusual old warehouses spaces. These spaces would be much more afforable than a space on a busy high traffic area like Uptown Minneapolis. Also, on a side-note, I know a guy in Costa Rica that has a development and is wanting to add a Wellness Center to the complex. (Might be a great opportunity calling you)

MISSION

The big question of WHY are you opening a Yoga Studio?

Why are you wanting to open a Yoga Studio. Is it the money? Is it the lifestyle? Is it making a change in the world? Is it helping other people? Before you move forward, get REALLY CLEAR on your “WHY”.

SUSTAINABLE

Not just ecologically, but also the FINANCE of running the business and making is profitable. Are going to earn enough money to pay yourself well, and also pay your teachers and trainers well? Will you be doing Retreats and other events to increase your income. Will you be able to pay the rent and keep the lights and heat on?

PS: My friend Nick has a development in Costa Rica and wants to add a Wellness Center to his complex. Costa Rica is a very energy sustainable country. (and has no army) Kinda cool.

What is the Best Weight Loss Program?

For years people have searched for the best weight loss program, only to learn that there are too many choices.

In my opinion, the battle for weight loss is a matter of discipline, moderation and self control.

There are many weight loss programs out there to try. Click Here!

But unless you have the self control and the discipline to take the actions necessary to succeed, of course you will fail. Therefore, before you even start to research a weight loss program, you need to make up your mind to DECIDE you are going to follow through with the program. Buying a method is not enough. You need to be sure you are committed to follow through with the steps from investing in the program, and then executing the tasks and exercises that are part of the program.

Would you like to look into a program now? Click Here!

The topic of weight loss has been increasing in popularity over the years. Perhaps this is due to the fast food craze and our need it now mentality. Eating healthy and exercising really is not at all that hard to do. All you need to do is work on your mind set to not be gluttonous and eat in moderation and make healthy food choices, then of course be active and life an active lifestyle. Don’t take the elevator all the time. Use the stairs. Don’t look for a close parking spot all the time. Park farther away and get some walking in.

Health and Wellness is EASY!

If you are reading this and you are a Health Coach or Fitness Trainer, I invite you to interview with me about your program and your success stories of helping people to lose weight and keep it off.

Eye Yoga with Nathan Oxenfeld on How to Improve my Eyesight

Have you wondered… How do I improve my eyesight without surgery?

I met Nathan while I was living in Asheville, NC. He was in the parking garage with a stalled car and in need of someone with jumper cables. Guess What? I’m a native Minnesotan, and I think we ALL have jumper cables.

Here is what I learned from Nathan.

You can learn about the natural alternatives to glasses, contacts, and surgeries and how many common vision problems can be prevented and decreased with simple and natural practices that retrain the eyes and mind to function more optimally. Nathan Oxenfeld, the founder of Integral Eyesight Improvement, combines the Bates Method, Yoga, Meditation, Breath Work, Emotional Work, Diet & Nutrition, and other vision training techniques to explore a more holistic approach to eye health.

Involuntary muscles in the eye work to open and close the iris in order to allow the proper amount of light into the eye. Overuse of sunglasses or tinted lenses can weaken the iris’ ability to respond to the environment and increase your sensitivity to light, sometimes to a painful level. The purpose of palming and sunning helps keep the eyes young and flexible and allow you to take in natural full spectrum sunlight with ease. The sun is very beneficial for the eyes if taken in moderation and in proper technique. Comfort is always your guide. Many people suffer from “mal-illumination” or lack of full spectrum natural sunlight. This is due to a combination of too much time spent indoors under artificial light and blocking out the sun’s rays with glasses, contacts or sunglasses, which have only been a part of the human experience for less than a hundred years. Compare that short amount of time to the hundreds of thousands of years the human species has spent evolving in direct sunlight. Sunglasses started out as tools for fighter pilots flying high up in the atmosphere who had to deal with the intense glare of the sun. After World War II the tinted goggle trend spread to the Earth’s surface and now we’ve reached a point where people are very dependent upon them and cannot step outside without them.
